Holiday Entertaining Tips
'Tis the season to entwine! entwine wines make food and wine pairing as enjoyable as uniting with friends and family during the holidays. Use these helpful hints when planning your next get-together.
Festive Freezing
Don't toss those final sips of wine! Use them for cooking (a good Beef Burgundy, for example!) or to make Mulled Wine. Freeze them in an ice cube tray or a small jar until you are ready to use. Or use them to make vinegar. It will be ready just in time for a spring salad.
How Much Wine Should I Buy?
To ensure that you don't run out of wine at your next dinner party, know the math. One 750ml bottle of wine will fill five glasses. Consider one glass per person per hour, and you'll have plenty to go around.
Let Your Onion Dip Chill
When you're making dip for parties, give it time. Most dips that incorporate strong-flavored ingredients, like garlic or onion, taste much better after being given a chance to mellow out in the fridge for a few hours. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the dip and let it sit for a while in the fridge before serving.
Extra Cookie Dough?
If you have extra cookie dough, portion it out onto a cookie sheet, then stick the whole sheet in the freezer. When the dough is frozen, transfer it to a freezer bag, then bake off cookies as you need them. The dough will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
