Food Network and Wente Vineyards Bring Flavors Together to Create entwine, a New California Wine Portfolio

New Wine Collection Devoted to Making Food and Wine More Accessible

NEW YORK, NY (August 4, 2011) – Just in time for summer evenings spent on the porch with a glass of wine, Food Network and Wente Vineyards unveil entwine. A new California wine portfolio, entwine brings the joy of food and varietal flavors to new heights. A natural blend between two American food and wine pioneers, the collaboration between Food Network and world-class, family owned California winery Wente Vineyards will inspire food lovers to dive into wine by bringing ease and excitement to enjoying wine and food. The initial line of entwine wines is now available nationwide with the 2009 vintage of four varietals, including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, retailing for $12.99 each.

entwine wines are as diverse as its pairing possibilities – from comfort foods like mac and cheese and meatloaf, to more show-stopping recipes created by Food Network Kitchens. Each varietal is presented via the language of food, and each showcases suggested pairings on its the back label, taking the guesswork out of finding a tasty match. By recommending off-the shelf staples like potato chips and salami as well as grilled pork and shellfish, entwine celebrates all occasions, whether simple or elegant.

“At Wente Vineyards, we are inspired by how different varietals bring out the flavors in food. Partnering with Food Network for entwine was a natural step that we hope will encourage Food Network viewers, as well as anyone who is wine-curious, to become as passionate about wine as they are about food,” said Karl Wente, Fifth Generation Winemaker at Wente Vineyards.

“We want to spotlight the natural relationship between wine and food, so we created the entwine wines. The name represents the easy way family, friends and of course the flavors of food and wine all come together to make any meal a more delicious experience,” said Sergei Kuharsky, General Manager of New Enterprises, Food Network.

For those looking for ideas and inspiration, entwine-wines.com serves as a resource for all things food and wine. The site enables searching by meal type, main ingredient or wine type to access recipes from Food Network Kitchens as well as simple everyday dish suggestions. Food and wine enthusiasts alike can download recipe cards or log on and share “how you entwine” with food, wine and everyday occasions.

entwine is available at a number of national retail chains and supermarkets, as well as independent on-and off-premise locations (including Kroger, Harris Teeter, Randall’s/Tom Thumb, Safeway, Vons, Dominick’s, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Giant and Publix). entwine was recently previewed at the Atlantic City Food and Wine Festival and will also be featured at the New York City Wine & Food Festival which runs from September 29 - October 2.
